James Gosling says the only place where Java has a legitimate
remaining performance issue is startup time. I fully agree.
Everything else now is down to design and implementation, apart
from the occasional real JVM performance bug. So it's in your
hands Ladies and Gentlemen of the Java world. Java is almost
officially mature. At ten years old, that's probably about right
for a computer language. And the short history of I.T suggests
that as the industry standard language, Java will dominate the
I.T. industry for the next twenty years. It is a good time to
start something in Java.
JavaPerformanceTuning.com, on the other hand, turned five years
old only a few days ago. And I have to admit, we are not mature.
There is so much more that needs to be done to the site,
so much more development we need to do to serve your needs as
readers of our site. We are working on it. I have to say, it will
probably take us another five years to get to the point where
we provide all the services you would like from us. But it'll
be fun getting there. Happy 5th Birthday JavaPerformanceTuning.com.
