Last month I looked at sizeof implementations. If you're interested in a little more about them or a little Java history (or both) then you might want to check my java.net blog entry (I'll be blogging there about once a month from now on).

And in the months previous to that I asked for volunteers to help me organise and keep up to date the massive wealth of Java performance tools I've uncovered over the years, and thank you very much to all who volunteered - I've been a bit busy but I promise I'll get to you this month! And for you, my readers, the first fruits of that volunteer program has now started, with updates to the books and GC log analysers pages, and a new page for thread analysers and those sizeof tools.

And I hope to have many more new tools pages in the coming months. Now on to all our usual sections: links to tools, articles, news and as ever, all the extracted tips from all of this month's referenced articles.
