A nice article in this month's list defines the six pillars of observability: Traces, change Events, Metrics, Profiles, Logs, and Exceptions (TEMPLE). The common phrase is three pillars, but the author, Yuri Shkuro, compellingly defines six pillars.
These six pillars have different data types, all with different structures and strengths for identifying whether issues are occurring and why. Metrics and Exceptions for identifying when there is an issue; all six pillars give different slices of information that help you investigate the issue and identify next steps and fixes.
Now on to all the usual newsletter list of links, tips, tools, news and articles including that six pillars article, and as usual I've extracted all the tips into this month's tips page
