The Observability day at Kubecon London confirmed that OpenTelemetry (the most active CNCF project after Kubernetes) is now production ready for most components - certainly the Java agent.
The (mainly free) vendor-owned implementations of the other most interesting components (eg the collector, the operator, the eBPF profiler) are also production ready, though the non-vendor versions are not quite there - but I estimate even these should be production ready later this year or early next year.
What this means is that you need to choose your back-end Observability solution from the available vendors depending on your functional, throughput, storage and cost requirements (eg Elastic Observability). But for input into your chosen back-end, you can now make the easy decision of the OpenTelemetry components that suits your system architecture.
Now on to all the usual newsletter list of links, tips, tools, news and talks, and as usual I've extracted all the tips into this month's tips page.
