After last month's bumper newsletter, I'm afraid this month's offering
is much slimmer. On the positive side, we have two more tool reports,
HPjmeter tool for viewing and analyzing Xrunhprof output, and
Sitraka's PerformaSure J2EE analyzer. All our
tool reports, past and present, are available from the
tool reports page.
I've also added several major interesting category tips pages to the
tips section of the website:
A note from this newsletter's sponsor
Precise Software revolutionizes J2EE Application Performance
Management with automatic problem detection & correction. Read
our white paper on how to instantly isolate J2EE bottlenecks.
In addition, I went on a tool trawl and found quite a few previously unlisted tools.
It is very positive that there are so many free tools available for Java performance
tuning related work. But it is a big negative that so many of them duplicate
each other's work. Come on guys, could you not work together and share
the glory?
On the negative side, both Kirk and I have book deadlines which has absorbed the rest
of our available time, so there is no roundup, no new tips section, and Javva went on
holiday so there's no Javva either. Sorry Kirk and Javva fans, but they both assure me
they'll be back next month.
If you feel this newsletter could be useful to a friend,
why not send them the URL. Note also that Yukio Andoh's
Japanese translation will hopefully be available at
http://www.hatena.org/JavaPerformanceTuning/ in a while.
A note from this newsletter's sponsor
Measure, analyze and maximize J2EE application performance
during load testing with Sitraka PerformaSure. Read the Aberdeen
white paper "Honing In on J2EE Performance Assurance".
Reminder to vendors and creators of performance tools
As part of our ongoing commitment to informing our readers
about performance tools, JavaPerformanceTuning.com presents one commercial tool
and one non-commercial tool each month. If you are a vendor or creator of such
a tool, and would like to have your tool presented, please contact me from
this page.
But do please note that we work on a first-completed, first-published basis.
There is already a queue of vendors and freeware authors creating
submissions for this column, so if you want your tool to be presented
in the near future, contact us sooner rather than later.
